Mac OS X dial-up and email install instructions.

Setting up the OS X dial-up connection:

  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. Click the Network icon.
  3. Click the arrow box on the Show pop-up list and choose Internal Modem.
  4. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
  5. Click the arrow box on the Configure pop-up list and choose Using PPP.
  6. In the Domain Name Servers box, type 209.103.196.2 and, on the next line, 209.103.196.15.
  7. In the Search Domains box, type athenet.net.
  8. Click on the PPP tab.
  9. In the Telephone Number field, type your local NTD Athenet access number.
  10. In the Account Name field, type your username.
  11. In the Password field, type your password.
  12. Check the box next to Save password.
  13. Click the PPP Options button.
  14. Check the box next to Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
  15. Uncheck the box next to Prompt to stay connected.
  16. Uncheck the box next to Disconnect if idle.
  17. Check the box next to Disconnect when user logs out.
  18. Click the OK button.
  19. Click on the Proxies tab.
  20. Uncheck all the boxes.
  21. Click the Apply Now button.
  22. Close the Network window.

You have configured Mac OS X for dial up access.

Setting up the OS X email program:

  1. Double-click the Mail icon.
  2. From the Mail menu at the top of the screen, choose Preferences.
  3. Click the arrow box on the Check accounts for new mail pop-up list and choose Manually.
  4. Click the Create Account button.
  5. Click the arrow box on the Account Type pop-up list and choose POP Account.
  6. In the Description field, type your email address.
  7. In the Email Adress field, type your email address.
  8. In the Full Name field, type your name however you would like others to see it.
  9. In the Host name field, type pop.athenet.net.
  10. In the User name field, type your username (usually this is the part of the email address before the @).
  11. In the Password field, type your password.
  12. In the SMTP Host field, type mail.athenet.net.
  13. Click on the Account Options tab.
  14. Check the box next to Delete messages on server after downloading.
  15. Click the OK button.

The Mail application is now configured to check your email account.
